About
The Commit for Life Scholarship program from Gulf Coast Blood awards multiple scholarships to students who create an essay or short video promoting blood donation. Applicants submit either a 500–1,000 word essay or a 30–60 second video on specified topics. Some higher-value awards require active participation on the school's blood drive team and a letter of recommendation from the blood drive sponsor. Winners are selected by an internal panel based on content, creativity and accuracy.
Who can apply
Your school must host a minimum of 2 blood drives this academic school year.

Be enrolled in an institution of higher education or trade school in the summer/fall following the award.

For the $5,000 and $10,000 scholarships, be an active member of your blood drive team and include a letter of recommendation from your blood drive sponsor. · preferred
“To be eligible for the $5,000 and $10,000 level scholarships, in addition to the essay or video submission, applicants must be an active member of their blood drive team and include a letter of recommendation from their blood drive sponsor regarding their advocacy for blood donations at their school.”
